Sabers party up in Bitburg for Fashing

How do you explain “Mardi Gras” or “Halloween” to people who know nothing about it? Stumped on the “we just dress up and throw beads” or “we beg strangers for candy or threaten them with tricks” parts? Now try explaining this in another language– not Klingon or Esperanto, but German. Mix it up with some music, beverages and a conga line and you have a good start for the miracle that is Fashing.

The old German legend is that its a time when the winter spirits are driven out for the festival of the spring. Perhaps so or maybe it’s really just an excuse to PAR-TAY!!! Regardless of the reason for the silly season, some Sabers joined the city of Bitburg’s festival for some Fashing-related hijinks. Some of these included hiding a key from some old ladies, kicking a soccer ball through a goal and dancing-dancing-dancing!
