Don’t worry, Spangdahlem firefighters are well trained to suppress fires and save the lives of many. 52nd Civil Engineer Squadron fire protection conducts annual and base-specific training to remain qualified in the battle against the elements. They will go through nine more days of live-fire training scenarios this month, orchestrated in a controlled environment to help Airmen develop their proficiency.
Firefighters used a Mobile Aircraft Fire Trainer, which simulated raging fires up to 500 degrees. It’s basically a giant burning aircraft. But fighting fires is no sweat for these Airmen, because their highest priorities are life and safety. You can always count on Spangdahlem firefighters to save the day.
“If you risk a little you save a little; if you risk a lot you will save a lot,” said Staff Sgt. Corey Black, 52nd Civil Engineer Squadron fire protection.
